Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace
We are all too well aware of the increasing problems with drugs and alcohol in the workplace. With over 20 years experience in the private medical sector and in particular occupational work, OSHS are able to offer both random drug testing and for cause testing.
Our services:
- give employers peace of mind,
- meet health and safety requirements,
- are considered favourably by insurers,
- but more importantly, do not break the bank.
Drug And Alcohol Testing
A drug and alcohol test can be carried out anywhere that has toilet facilities. All tests are supervised by highly trained certified individuals. By visiting your premises or site, there is little disruption to your working day, ensuring that any potential problem can be identified using the random testing method.

Construction Industry Workers
According to the HSE, construction industry workers are 6 times more likely to be killed at work than other workers. Testing for drug and alcohol misuse could possibly lead to a reduction in injury rates. (Study carried out by the construction industry in 2000).
Often working away from home, construction workers are vulnerable to peer group pressure which may lead to the inappropriate use of drugs and alcohol.
Implementing an adequate drug and alcohol testing procedure is simple and affordable.

Rail Transport
Rail transport companies and their employees have legal obligations under the Transport & Works Act 1992. It is illegal for employees to work under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and there are legal duties on employers to have procedures in place so this does not happen.
