What is Flu
Flu is a respiratory illness caused by the infectious influenza virus. The illness can last anything from a week to two or sometime longer. The infection affects the throat, nose and the lungs and symptoms include high fever, chills, aching joints and a cough. However if not treated, some people can have some serious health complications.
Every year the virus is different and that’s why every year we only purchase our vaccinations from Pfizer who are international leaders in the flu vaccination supply. Some seasons are more unpredictable than others.
Each year the virus is slightly different, its severity is unpredictable. Some flu seasons are worse than others. It depends on the type of flu virus going around and the number of people who are susceptible to it each winter.
By giving your employees a flu vaccination you will experience the benefits:
- Maintain your productivity levels.
- Decrease absenteeism
- Be proactive with the work force and make a commitment to each employee.
How does the flu vaccine work?
The vaccine is both safe and effective. It protects against viral strains which are advised by the World Health Organisation and those identified as the most likely to attack the UK in the coming months. In 2012 it will also protect against swine flu.
After about a week, the vaccine produces antibodies (chemicals in the blood) that protect against the virus strains. Current vaccines give 70-90% protection against flu. For those who may still get flu, the illness is often milder.
What we will provide to you:
